C Cleaner
Just downloaded and installed C Cleaner. No real reason, system wasn’t running poorly but I’d been meaning to check the program out for awhile. Here’s a description from the source:
CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool.
So there you have it. A program that will optimize your computer, make your activities private and clean up any messiness. For free. I’m not really a fan of these programs because there is something that is fundamentally flawed about the model. First things first. What are you doing on you computer to make such a mess? Do you really think that this will solve any privacy issues that you have going on? Is there actually a privacy issue or are you just being paranoid? Maybe I’ll hunt down a link to one of the articles on the spyware that typically goes along with these programs. So why did I run it? Well, it had been recommended to me by someone I regard as being competent, the review from CNET were objective enough and I guess I was a little bored on Sunday afternoon.
Haven’t researched the company but there is nothing for sale on the site, not real income generation besides a paypal donation link. They claim some 300 million downloads. A startup co. looking to sell to someone bigger? Maybe i’ll look into it sometime.
